Dubuque or Bust

Went to Dubuque last night for a ONE stop with Senator Chris Dodd and Senator Joe Biden both presidential candidates. It went pretty well.. Here's the link http://action.one.org/blog/.

Dodd and I:

Aeon Grey @ Vaudville Mews

Shot the Aeon Grey concert at Vaudville on Wednesday night in Des Moines. I had worked with him last year on my musicians photo project so it was cool to meet up with him again as he was starting a tour around the Midwest. He will be back in Des Moines to open for Brother Ali on June 7th. That show will be a good one so check it out.

Anyway, here's a few photos from the show:

John Edwards at the DSM Public Library

So my first day of work with ONE was lukewarm at best. Political events are their own creature and sometimes the people there don't really care about anything is touching a political figure (exhibit A the woman in the white coat in the photo). So I was suppose to get a photo of my boss, Robyn, handing a ONE bracelet to John Edwards.. Didn't quite work out that way, as he put the bracelet in his pocket instead of around his wrist. Oh well, first day so it's a learning process.. I think I'm going to be able to use this job as a vehicle to do a lot creative photography as far as making posters and stuff like that goes so I'm excited about that. But for now, here's Mr. Edwards...

New JobS aka Goodbye Caribou!

If you didn't already know:

1. I got a new job
2. I got another new job
3. I quit my old job.

My first new job is with Juice, for those of you not from Des Moines it's a weekly newspaper/magazine that is put out by the Des Moines Register. I basically go around and take photos of people having fun. So it's pretty easy, pretty fun and it lets me meet new, drunk people all the time.

My second new job is with the One Campaign, http://www.one.com, you may have seen the white bands around already, if all goes well it will be just as popular as the yellow ones. I will be working with them from now through January. I basically will be travelling around Iowa to all different political and nonpolitical events and taking photos and talking to people about One. So it not a permanent job but it gives me the opportunity to make a ton of connections and hopefully land something full time after I'm done with it, plus it helps me feel good about myself at the end of the day.

The cool thing about both of these jobs will be that I can keep you updated with photos that I'm taking through the duration of these and you can tell me if you like them or hate them or just think they are boring. Be honest, I can't learn if you candy-coat.
